Playa del Saladar, Alicante.

Blue Flag beach with dunes, free parking, and more space than you'll find at Postiguet. Around 9 kilometres south of Alicante city centre.

Home/Beaches/Playa del Saladar

Playa del Saladar doesn't get the attention it deserves. Nine kilometres south of the city, past the noise — and suddenly you're on a long, wide beach with free parking, a proper promenade, good restaurants, and room to actually breathe.

It's a well-equipped beach that works for a full day out without any of the logistical headaches of the city beaches. Clean, maintained, and noticeably less crowded than Postiguet even on a summer weekend.

Two things worth knowing before you go. First: the beach sits directly under the flight path for Alicante Airport (ALC) — planes pass overhead regularly on approach and departure. For some people it adds a certain energy to the place. For others it's a dealbreaker. Worth knowing in advance.

Second: the far end of the beach is a designated naturist zone — there's a sign marking it clearly. Nothing dramatic, just worth being aware of so you're not caught off guard.

Playa del Saladar, Alicante — Visitor Guide

Getting there, parking, facilities, naturist zone, and everything worth knowing before your first visit.

What facilities are available at Playa del Saladar?
Blue Flag beach with foot showers, public toilets, sunbed and umbrella rentals, Red Cross lifeguard station — all during high season (June to September). Restaurants and chiringuitos along the full promenade. Clean and accessible year-round.
Is Playa del Saladar good for families with kids?
Yes. Wide Blue Flag beach with gradual water entry, children's playground on the sand, lifeguard cover in high season, and full pushchair access. Less sheltered than Albufereta — check the flag before letting small children in. Free parking close by.
Is Playa del Saladar good for snorkelling?
Not particularly — sandy bottom, limited visibility. For snorkelling, Cala Cantalar at Cabo de las Huertas is the better option — rocky coves, clearer water, marine reserve. Playa del Saladar excels at space, facilities, free parking and clean Blue Flag swimming.
What is the best time to visit Playa del Saladar?
September is the sweet spot — warmest sea, fewer crowds, Urbanova at its best pace. July and August are busy but quieter than city beaches — arrive early. Spring and autumn the dunes are worth walking and the beach is practically empty. Weekday mornings always win.
How do I get to Playa del Saladar from Alicante?
9km south of Alicante city centre in Urbanova. By car via N-332, free parking at GPS 38.288902, -0.520581 (large) or 38.279384, -0.520392 (near playgrounds). Bus line 23 from city centre, 25–30 minutes.
Is there parking at Playa del Saladar?
Yes — free parking at two spots. Large car park GPS 38.288902, -0.520581, rarely full. Smaller car park near playgrounds GPS 38.279384, -0.520392, fills faster. No pay-and-display, no time limits. Arrive before 10am in July and August for the smaller one.
