Yes — and this is worth knowing before you go. The vast majority of Alicante is perfectly safe for tourists and residents. But a handful of
neighbourhoods to avoid in Alicante have higher crime rates, particularly at night:
- Colonia Requena and 1000 Viviendas — the areas most consistently flagged by locals
- Juan XXIII — worth being cautious, especially after dark
- Carolinas Bajas — higher rates of drug-related activity
- La Florida and San Antón — known for higher robbery rates
The good news:
none of these areas are anywhere near the tourist zone, beaches, or city centre. If you're staying in the centre,
Albufereta, or near
San Juan beach — you're well clear of all of them.
