Yes — and this is genuinely one of the better
snorkelling spots near Alicante without driving anywhere. The water is clear, the rocky bottom creates real underwater structure, and the
Cabo de las Huertas Marine Reserve means the marine life here is noticeably more varied than at the sandy city beaches.
If you're lucky, you might spot octopus, sea bream, or wrasse — the rocky bottom and marine reserve status give the underwater life here a real chance to thrive. Nothing guaranteed, but consistently more interesting than anything a flat sandy beach has to offer.
A few practical things worth knowing:
- Water shoes are strongly recommended — the rock entry points are sharp in places
- The steps cut into the rock make entry easier but the surface around them can be slippery
- Avoid after strong winds — the cove faces open sea and visibility drops quickly after rough weather
- Bring your own gear — there's nothing to rent at the cove itself
For a longer snorkelling session, the rock platforms extending east and west of the main cove are worth exploring — the further from the sandy area, the better the visibility.
